Frequently Asked Questions
When you joined Advance UK, you did more than support a political party. You became a member of the company, Advance UK Party Limited.
It helps to know that two separate things are true right now:
- Advance UK has stopped being a registered political party. As a party, it is winding down its activities.
- But Advance UK is also a company, and that company has not closed. A company cannot simply vanish. It has to settle its bills and finish its affairs first, so it will keep existing for a while yet.
Your membership remains of the company. This is why it does not disappear just because the party has stopped its political activity. The company still exists, so you are still a member.
Advance UK is a type of company called a "company limited by guarantee." In this kind of company, there are no shareholders. Instead, the company is made up of its members. So being a member is a real, formal role in the company. It is not just being a supporter, or being on an email list like it is for other political parties - you have rights.
Our rules require members to pay a fee once a year. This is written in our constitution (Article 27.5). Paying that yearly fee is what keeps you a member. It is due at this time of year, so it has been collected now, in the normal way.
Please be assured: this payment is safe and normal. It does not mean anyone has misused your bank details.
One last point, because it surprises people: being a member and paying the yearly fee go together. One cannot happen without the other. If the fee is not paid, your membership stops, and you would no longer be a member of the company. In plain terms, not paying is the same as choosing to leave. The renewal is not an extra charge on top of your membership — the renewal is your membership.
Why did you not just refund everyone and stop taking renewals?
This is a fair question, and we understand why this might have happened if the party were configured differently. However, Advance UK was set up to be a democratic party from the outset, with members being part of the company, which means our members have rights that we cannot just take away.
If we had simply stopped taking renewals, we would have ended everyone's membership of the company without asking them. That would have made the decision for you, and we refuse to make a decision for you that removes your rights.
If we had refunded everyone automatically, we would have done the same thing because membership of the company depends on payment of the subscription. We would have forced every single member out of the company, whether they wanted to leave or not. Again, this would have stripped you of your rights as a member, and we will not do that without your permission.
Neither stopping renewals or issuing mass refunds without a request is fair, because the choice belongs to you about your membership. So we did the only thing that protects everyone: we renewed as normal, so that no one loses their membership by accident, and we are offering a refund to anyone who actively wants one. That way, people who want to stay can stay, and people who want to leave can leave. Nobody has the decision made for them.
Advance UK has stopped being a registered political party. It has been removed from the register of political parties. So as a party, it is winding down its activities.
But Advance UK is also a company. Its full name is Advance UK Party Limited. That company has not closed. It still exists, and it will keep existing for a while yet, because a company cannot simply vanish. It has to settle its bills and finish its affairs first. This takes time.
So there are two things here, and it helps to keep them separate:
- The political party is winding down.
- The company still exists, and will do until its affairs are fully wound up.
Your recent renewal. If you have just been charged your annual renewal and you would prefer not to continue, you can ask us for a refund within 28 days of that payment, and we will refund it in full. Because paying the fee is what makes you a member, taking this refund will also end your membership of the company. Just let us know within that time and we will arrange it. You can email [email protected] from the email account you joined the party with (or quoting your membership number) to request a refund.
Older subscriptions and donations. Refunds apply to a recent payment, within the 28-day window above. They do not apply to subscriptions or donations made further in the past. If you joined in the summer of 2025, for example, or donated some time ago, that money is not automatically refundable.
The reason is straightforward. Money raised from membership fees and donations was used, at the time, to fund the party's work — for example contesting the elections in May 2026 and by-elections such as Gorton and Denton. That money has already been spent on the activities it was given for. We cannot reclaim those costs, so we are not able to refund money the company no longer holds.
We are sorry you wish to cancel your membership of Advance UK Party Limited, a company limited by guarantee where its members are ultimately its owners.
To process a cancellation online from your member resources area please visit https://www.advanceuk.org.uk/member_resources
- You will be asked to log in to access the Member Resources page
- You may need to reset your password or create an online account to access this page
- If you are requesting a password reset or creating a new account please use the email address you provided when you joined the party
- If you have a Google Account or Microsoft Account try pressing those login buttons to access your account first without the need for a separate password
What happens next?
The portal will allow you to cancel the auto-renew of your membership. This will stop any additional payments. Your membership record will also be updated to mark it as cancelled, effective immediately. This will mean that as soon as you process the cancellation in your member resources area you will no longer be a member of Advance UK Party Limited.
If you just want to cancel the auto-renew feature whilst remaining a member so you can exercise your rights please email [email protected] instead of cancelling auto-renew online - this is so we can check and confirm your membership record remains, and thus ensure your rights, whilst the auto-renew feature is turned off.
- Cancellation of membership does not automatically remove you from our mailing list(s). To do this, you will need to click the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of any marketing email we send you, either an email we have sent you in the past or any you get in the future.
- If you withdraw permission for us to email you (by unsubscribing) please note that we may not be able to email you a confirmation of cancellation.
How do I withdraw my cancellation?
It is not currently possible to reverse cancellations given our merger with the Great British PAC.
Members can remove any member of the Board of Directors, including the leader of the party, by a simple majority vote at a properly organised General Meeting.
Please see our policies section.
Your membership number is associated with the email with which you registered; please check your spam folder in case the email has been missed.
The problem: "On the login screen I am asked to provide a username and password, but I don't recall setting a password (or I have forgotten it). I click the 'Forgot Password' link and enter my email address, but nothing arrives."
Possible solutions:
- If you have a Google Account (address ending @gmail.com or @googlemail.com) try pressing the 'Continue with Google' button on the sign-in page instead. You should try this even if you don't remember pressing this button when you signed-up.
- If you have a Hotmail or other Microsoft Account try pressing the 'Continue with Microsoft Account' button on the sign-in page instead. You should try this even if you don't remember pressing this button when you signed-up.
- Check your spam/junk folder for the password reset email. The sender will be [email protected] - please add this address to your contacts to help ensure you always get our emails.
- If you have tried the above and still cannot reset your password or sign in to your account, please email [email protected] from the email address you used to sign up with, and let us know you have already tried the steps in this FAQ along with any error messages that appear on your screen. This will help us troubleshoot any underlying issues.

Answer: We are not currently accepting donations by cryptocurrency, but we will update our website in due course if we do. Until then, please do not donate to any wallets presenting themselves as being associated with Advance UK, and do not buy any tokens that appear to be promoting the Advance UK brand. Any official cryptocurrency details we set up in the future will be posted here for validation.
Please note: It is not currently possible to join Advance UK following the announcement made after the ballot of members to merge with the Great British PAC. Further details regarding the transfer of membership to the Great British PAC and how you can exercise your rights over your own data in the context of this merger will be posted soon - keep an eye on our news channel for the latest.
