Councillor Sam Woods-Brass Joins Advance UK: “Politics Must Defend the Defenceless and Serve the Nation”

Advance UK is pleased to announce that Councillor Sam Woods-Brass has joined the Party and will sit as one of its Councillors in Hetton Town Council, marking a further step in the building of a principled national movement rooted in service and accountability.

Sam’s decision to join Advance UK results from his, and the public’s, growing recognition that the Party puts the British people first. He had previously sat as a councillor for Reform UK.

Sam Woods-Brass did not enter politics for status or personal advantage. He entered it out of duty — to protect his community, to speak for those who are unheard, and to stand up for those who feel defenceless in an increasingly distant and unaccountable political system. That sense of duty has shaped his professional life and political journey.

A qualified mental health nurse, Sam works daily with some of the most vulnerable members of society. His professional experience has given him an acute understanding of the consequences of political failure — not in abstract terms, but in lived human reality. He has seen firsthand how insecurity, social breakdown, and institutional neglect harm individuals and communities alike. It is this experience that underpins his belief that politics must once again be grounded in responsibility, compassion, and truth.

Announcing his decision to join Advance UK, Cllr. Woods-Brass said:

“I resigned from Reform UK because it has abandoned the very principles for which it claimed to stand. Its leadership has become even more undemocratic, intolerant of dissent, and hostile to free speech — forcing members to conform or leave. That is not democracy; it is authoritarianism.

Reform no longer offers serious solutions. It chooses instead to posture and bask in failure, while opportunistic figures put their own ambitions ahead of members and communities.

Advance UK is different. It is rooted in principle, accountability, and genuine freedom — and it is the only political movement I have seen that truly puts the British people first.”

Ben Habib, Leader of Advance UK, welcomed Sam to the party, saying:

“Sam Woods-Brass is dedicated to public service. He is principled, compassionate, and fearless in defence of his community. His experience on the frontline of mental health care gives him a moral authority, lacking in career politicians. We are delighted to have him on board.”
